Training young horses isn't neccessarily a difficult task. However if the foundations are laid incorrectly then this provides for error later on in a ridden career.

That is why we take our time when training a young horse. Horses, like humans, have different personalities and different rates of learning. So one horse may only take a week whilst another may take up to a few weeks to get used to carrying a rider, let alone jumping or performing under saddle.

The horses health is also key to its willingness and behaviour which is why the horses we train are checked regularly, by a qualified masseuse, to ensure that they are not sore and are able to perform at their best.

Each horses safety is ensured from the moment they arrive on the property right up until they leave.

We offer to break-in, back and train young horses and return them to you as safe, happy mounts ready to please you in whatever discipline you desire.

Breaking

Our primary service at Kalloolah Lodge is the breaking-in of horses and ponies.
Here we pride ourselves on taking our time and making sure not to rush and/or stress out the horse while it comes to terms with new activities. If a horse is obviously nervous with an aspect of training we take the time to help it overcome the issue rather than forcing acceptance and rushing through the entire process.
That's why we can happily say that your horse is being returned as a happy mount that's willing to learn whatever you want to teach him next.

Re-educating

As a training service we also offer to re-educate horses that may have spent a few years spelling or just left in paddock condition for whatever reason. It is normally here we find a horse may have been put out due to a behavioural problem that we are quite happy to help solve. Sometimes we've found it has just been a matter of the horse getting away with something due to the rider not being able to handle the issue correctly or because they may have become nervous of the behaviour. In any case we are here to help and will attempt any challenging issue and will exhaust any and every channel available before we even consider that maybe we aren't able to cure/solve the horses problem.
